? CSR, or Certificate Signing Request, is a unique text file created from your web server that contains encrypted information about your website and/or organization. It contains your organization name, common name (domain name), locality (city) and country. The CSR is one half of your necessary “key pair”, the other half is your private key, which is created simultaneously during your CSR generation process. A CSR is required by any Certificate Authority (CA) in order to obtain a certificate, but the CA does not need your Private Key. You will need to keep your private key in a safe place. The certificate created with a particular CSR will only work with the private key that was generated with it. See our CSR generation instructions for help.

In order for us to generate your CSR, you will need to get access to your server or hosting control panel (i.e. cPanel) because generating a secure CSR & Private key requires this type of admin access. After you complete your purchase, please contact your webmaster to obtain the appropriate login credentials or simply ask your webmaster to generate the CSR for you.

Once you purchase our SSL Installation Service (and your certificate is issued) you'll schedule some time to work with a member of our team and have your certificate installed. This can be done three different ways:

  • You can provide us with temporary server credentials (don't worry, we don't save this information) to perform an installation remotely–this is our most popular option.
  • You can schedule a screen-sharing session that you control with one of our SSL experts.
  • You can schedule a phone call with one of our team members who will provide step-by-step guidance.

To order our premium SSL Installation Service, simply enter the requisite information on the product page, add it to your cart and purchase it like you would any other product. The SSL Installation Service will be viewable from within your control panel just like a regular order.

Once your certificate gets issued, click on the "Schedule" button right next to the order in your "My Orders" list. Then just request the ideal time you'd like us to perform the installation and you will be contacted by your dedicated SSL specialist who will share the next steps in the process.

This installation service is good for one certificate on one server. If you need to have an SSL certificate installed on multiple servers, each additional server will cost you $30.00. If, for some reason, your certificate needs to be reissued at some point in its lifespan you can always use this service again, but – due to the labor involved – it will be an additional $59.99 per certificate and $30.00 per each additional server.

In addition, if you need help generating your Certificate Signing Request (CSR), we include that in our SSL Installation Service free of charge. Just let us know upfront when you schedule your installation and your dedicated SSL specialist will do the rest!

Do I have to be involved during the SSL installation?

Since you are purchasing a service rather than a product, you will need to be involved on some level, depending on how you chose to schedule your installation. At the very minimum, you will be responsible for scheduling when you would like your installation service to occur after the purchase is complete.

How do I schedule the installation?

After you have purchased the number of installation services that you need, along with your number of servers, the service will be loaded into your control panel in your “Orders” list. There will be a “Schedule” button listed for the Installation Service. Simply click on the “Schedule” button and the you can fill out all the necessary details and enter your three most desired date and times, etc. From there, one of our support experts will contact you directly either via phone or email to confirm everything.

How does RapidSSLonline.com perform the installation?

There are a number of ways we can perform the installation and the choice is up to you. The fastest and most convenient way is by giving our team temporary access to your server. It is recommended that you set a temporary password, which we will use, then change it immediately when our work is done. For added security, we never store any passwords.

You can also schedule a TeamViewer session with one of our agents, where you will grant us controls during a remote screen-sharing session and get everything set up for you while you watch. Additionally, you can schedule either a phone call or live chat consultation with one of our agents, who will walk you through the entire process step-by-step.

Can I use the Installation Service for my renewal certificate?

Yes! You can purchase installation service for a renewal order. If you used installation service on an SSL certificate that is set to expire, all you have to do is purchase it again for your renewal order.
